“It is a Constitution that deals with many of the debts that our country has with its people, with you, and where it is worth remembering that each norm was approved by 2/3 of its representatives,” he added.

Along the same lines, he indicated that “as President of the Republic and Head of State, I invite you, during this period that is beginning, to carry out a dialogue with high vision and that has a republican sense. That regardless of the options of each group or person, we are able to install a conversation free of falsehoods and misinformation”.

“Our Government will make every effort within its reach so that the new text is read and debated in schools and high schools, neighborhood associations and unions, organizations of small, medium and large entrepreneurs, universities and places in the country. We want it is discussed in the family, that children, youth and adults of all ages give their opinion. Let there be dialogue between the generations, “he said.

“You, dear compatriots, will be the protagonists of this historic decision. I invite you to give this debate with hope and generosity, always respecting those who think differently, welcoming those who have legitimate doubts, learning from diverse opinions, thus deepening our democracy and improving our coexistence,” he added.

On the other hand, and referring to one of the slogans “without fear, without hate, without violence” of the “No” campaign for the plebiscite of October 5, 1988, the Head of State announced that “our wish is that as of September 4 a path of changes and reforms begins, that not only allow the reunion between Chilean men and women, but also install the pillars of a Chile with more justice, more equity, more dignity and with a better and broader democracy. Without hate, without violence”.

“I invite you to decide with your heart and mind, always placing this homeland that we love so much at the center. I trust in the wisdom of the Chilean people,” said the President.
