Dengue is still latent in the country, this 2022 1,232 cases have been reported

More than 1,200 cases of dengue have been reported by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) in the country, until epidemiological week 25, reported the deputy director of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, Oscar González-

He highlighted that the province of Bocas del Toro heads the list of infections with 309 cases; followed by Panamá Norte 246, Panamá Metro 197, Panamá Oeste 150, Chiriquí 112 and San Miguelito with 99 cases.

According to González, with the beginning of the rains, the production of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, transmitter of dengue, increases, so he recommended that people avoid their breeding sites, such as eliminating containers in patios, checking water channels , cover drinking water tanks, pet water bowls.

He said that the favorite places of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito are the tires, so it is recommended to keep them indoors and not throw them in the patios, since they collect the water where the mosquitoes reproduce, González said.

The main symptoms of dengue are: fever, headache (it hurts the back of the eyes) and general discomfort with pain in the joints of the muscles, so they have to go immediately to the health centers, to receive attention.
