The Congress Oversight Commission concluded its investigations regarding the Puente Tarata III case, which implicates the President of the Republic, peter castle, and other characters in alleged acts of corruption. In the middle of the investigations they had to lift the secret of communications to find the relationship between all the protagonists.
According to the Sunday “Punto final”, peter castle would have used his son’s phone to communicate with those involved in the case and other figures such as karelim lopez.

“The lifting of the secrecy of communications has been fundamental because it has been possible to check where the calls came from, how many times Zamir Villaverde called Juan Silva and then Fray Váquez called President Castillo”said Héctor Ventura, president of the commission, to the Latina program.
What calls are related to this case?
On October 5, 2021 — the day the selection committee for National Provias decides by majority to postpone the presentation of offers for the Tarata Bridge and in this way presumably benefit the winning consortium— Castillo’s nephew, Fray Vásquez, communicates with Zamir Villaverde.
Then, on the 19th of the same month – the day on which the award is given to the Tarata III Bridge Consortium— Former Minister Juan Silva communicates with Fray Vasquez at 8:30 pm. The call lasts 45 seconds and disrupts his version by mentioning that he had no communication with the nephew of the president of Peru.

“Fray Vásquez is the president’s nephew, I have seen him repeatedly in the campaign, but he has not been to the MTC,” Silva said on a previous occasion to Congress.
Another effective collaborator spoke before the Prosecutor’s Office about the relationship between Vásquez and Silva to collude in the MTC. Later, what was spoken between them reached Castillo through his nephew.

According to the commission, President Castillo used, until the end of last year, a telephone number registered in the name of a member of Peru Libre. The constitutional lawyer Luciano López argues along the same lines: “There is a constitutional procedural problem there because the Constitution, whether we like it or not, says that the president, during his mandate, cannot be accused except in four very extraordinary cases. And none of these assumptions has to do with the commission of crimes of corruption.
“The approval of the report is a violation of the Constitution and could not pass to the Standing Commission such a case. Also, the commission has a contradiction because on the one hand it says that the responsibility of the president would be proven, but at the same time it says that there are reasonable indications and there cannot be certainties and doubts at the same time. For this reason, we are absolutely confident that this report will be archived at the right time,” Espinoza alleges.
