Minsa postpones until August the entry of 30 internal doctors that was scheduled for July 1

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that the entry of 30 intern doctors that was scheduled for July 1 has been postponed until next August, in order to comply with all the commitments established with these doctors.

This situation was notified in advance by the Minsa authorities to the Teaching Commission for Internal and Resident Doctors.

The measure is due to the containment of public spending originated to meet the needs caused by the increase in fuel in public and selective transport in order to avoid an increase in the user’s passage.

The Minsa continues to attend to the situation that has arisen and reiterated the commitment of the Panamanian State with intern doctors so that they complete their academic and professional training.

On March 11, 2022, the open voice act was carried out for which a total of one hundred and eighty-eight (188) vacancies were published, of which ninety-three correspond to the Minsa (93) and ninety-five (95) to the CSS. A total of two hundred and twenty two (222) doctors signed up, a figure that exceeds the number of places offered.

Given this situation, the Minsa included within the 93 published places, thirty (30) places for interns who were to enter on July 1, 2022. These places were managed to support the entry of more doctors to the internship, since the number of registered exceeded the offer and with this decrease the number of inmates on the waiting lists.

In addition, the Minsa authorities met with 15 doctors who had to enter the HST, who accepted the entry scheduled for August 1 of the current year, however, the doctors who would enter the José Domingo de Obaldía Hospital did not accept said measure. .
