Indecopi and Osinergmin detect irregularities in the tap because it would not deliver the exact amount of fuel

Indecopi reported this Sunday that in a joint operation with the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining () it was detected that a tap located in the district of Los Olivos would not deliver the exact amount of fuel to consumers.

He indicated that the finding was registered at the “Grif Santa Eulalia SRL Service Station” that operates under the trade name Primax.

The governing body mentioned that metrological control tests were carried out in that establishment; that is, the volume dispatched to buyers was verified using a standard volumetric meter, known as “Serafín”, finding that, of the 13 hoses evaluated, two that supplied gasohol with 90 octane and gasohol with 97 plus, would present inconsistencies in the measurement. .

He specified that this fact was detected on Friday, July 1 in parallel inspections in three taps.

In the other two taps verified, located in San Martín de Porres and San Borja, no findings of possible infractions were found. Thus, they verified that the dispensing machines of the taps deliver the correct amount of fuel.

The “Serafín” is certified by a calibration laboratory accredited by the National Quality Institute (Inacal).

Joint audits are random at the national level and serve to identify suspected violations. Indecopi supervises that suppliers comply with the regulation on price advertising and that the informed price is charged to consumers.

For its part, Osinergmin verifies that the exact amount of fuel purchased is granted. In addition, the faucets are required to report to Osinergmin the updated price at which the fuels are marketed, this information is published in the “Facilito” application.

Possible sanctions for mishandling

The president of Indecopi, Julián Palacín, pointed out that the rise in fuel prices is a complex problem, which begins with fuel producers or importers in Peru, where Petroperú or Repsol have a market share of almost 80%.

In addition, he announced that they do not rule out initiating lawsuits in court for the collective defense of those consumers affected by the illegal practices of the faucets that have already been sanctioned by Osinergmin, in order to obtain compensation or compensation.

The increase in fuel prices is affecting the entire world, but in Peru we are going to take the corresponding measures in accordance with our powers so that the problem does not worsen, for which we will meet with the technical teams of Minem and Osinergmin“, said.

As a State we must work in a coordinated manner to protect consumers”, he stressed, while not ruling out that the operations be carried out throughout the month of July.

Indecopi and Osinergmin have been carrying out joint actions since last month. They have already supervised 160 faucets.

Of these 36 belong to Lima and 124 to the Amazon, Chimbote, Huaraz, Apurímac, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Huancayo, La Merced, Ica, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Loreto, Moquegua, Pasco, San Martín, Tacna, Tumbes, and Ucayali regions. Mother of God.
