Coronavirus in Cuba: infections rise to 42 on July 1. 21 were imported

Cuba experienced an increase in infections of the SARS-CoV-2 virus during the first day of July, according to the part that on the epidemiological situation issues today the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) and where it reports 42 cases, of which 21 were imported.

Nine territories, including the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality, reported infections; but only Havana (14) and Villa Clara (12 of which 10 are imported) exceeded the figure of four patients in the last 24 hours, when 2,302 samples were processed.

The fatalities of COVID-19 continue to number 8,529 as no deaths were reported today, according to health authorities.

Of the infections, 18 correspond to contacts of confirmed cases and in three individuals the cause of the infection was not specified.

36 clinical discharges were notified and the number of people admitted closed at 348, the confirmed active cases totaled 125. Two people remained bedridden in intensive care due to COVID-19 this day.

By age, the group made up of those under 20 years of age had 14 patients; 15 corresponded to the range between 20 and 39 years old, five to those between 40 and 59 years old and eight to those over 60.

28% of those infected were asymptomatic.
