The Institute of National Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) delivered this Friday (1st) two restoration works of historic buildings in Bahia. These are the renovations of the Terpsichore Popular Philharmonic House, in Maragogipe, and the Juracy Magalhães Júnior Library, in Itaparica. Together, the buildings received approximately R$10 million in federal resources from the Diffuse Rights Fund (FDD), of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
The inauguration ceremony of the Casarão da Filarmônica Terpsicore Popular was attended by President Jair Bolsonaro, the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Brito, and the president of Iphan, Larissa Peixoto, among other authorities.
Philharmonic House
According to Iphan, the work on the Casarão da Filarmônica Terpsicore Popular valued the original aesthetics of the building. The site was in a bad state of conservation, and received investments of R$ 4.4 million. The works lasted 24 months. The property will continue to function as the headquarters of the Popular Terpsichore Philharmonic Society of Maragogipe, the entity that will manage the space.
Library
The restoration intervention at the Juracy Magalhães Júnior Library involved an investment of R$ 6.8 million, informed the government. Inaugurated on September 23, 1968, the property is part of the set of libraries coordinated by the Pedro Calmon Foundation, an agency linked to the Secretary of Culture of the State of Bahia.
The works lasted 22 months and the place will once again offer several cultural activities, such as storytelling, literary workshops, book launches, lectures, among others. In addition to the revitalization of the building, the external area of the property also gained a new landscaping in the living spaces.
Earlier, in Feira de Santana, also in Bahia, the president visited the construction works of the ring road of the city, which is the second largest in the state. The work order was also signed for the construction of artesian wells, cisterns and water desalination for the region.
