The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) presented the first call for applications Upload, a program with the support of UTE and the BSE what will give incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles.
It is a program that in its initial stage will benefit the acquisition of up to 1,000 electric motorcycles and 100 cargo tricycles in Artigas, Paysandú, Rivera, Salto and Tacuarembó.
The National Director of Energy, Fitzgerald Cantero, declared that the program seeks that Uruguayan families, companies and organizations see energy efficiency as an “opportunity” and a “reality”, and affirmed that the goal is evaluate this pilot program to extend it throughout the country.
The initiative grants the refund of 10% of the purchase value of the vehicle (with caps of US $ 250 for motorcycles and US $ 450 for tricycles) and a discount on UTE invoice (Single amount of $ 2,022 for energy for the supply associated with the load). In addition, the beneficiary will receive a refund for energy savings once the first 12 months have elapsed from the purchase of the vehicle, which is calculated based on the use given to it. Finally, you will also be credited with a mandatory BSE insurance for one year.
