Santo Domingo. -The Executive Directorate of the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) appointed this Thursday the lawyer Sigmund Freund as the Political Delegate before the Central Electoral Board (JCE), a position held by the assassinated Minister of the Environment, Orlando Jorge Mera.
Freund is currently the head of the Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAPP) and will occupy the position before the JCE held for several years by Jorge Mera, who was shot dead on June 6 in his office at the Ministry of the Environment, for Miguel Cruz, a close friend of his, for reasons yet to be clarified.
The information was offered by the organization after a meeting at its headquarters with the members of the Executive Directorate, in which Eddy Olivares was also appointed as coordinator of the party’s presidency, who also holds the position of second national vice president of the PRM.

In addition, the PRM established by means of a resolution its position on the Bill on Asset Forfeiture that is currently in the National Congress, and recognizes the community and international organizations, as well as society in general for the interest and follow-up provided , for the purpose of providing the country with a standard to combat and discourage organized crime in the Dominican Republic.
Lastly, it was reported that they will begin in the next few days to consolidate the register from 1.7 million registered to 3 million to strengthen that political organization.
The meeting was headed by the president of the PRM, José Ignacio Paliza, who announced the details during a press conference after the meeting ended.
Paliza was accompanied by Andrés Bautista, honorary president of the party; Milagros Ortiz Bosch, Eddy Olivares and Nelson Arroyo, first, second and third vice president of the party, respectively. In addition, Kelvin Cruz and Lia de Díaz, first and second deputy secretary general of the PRM.
