The Rendering of Accounts entered the Parliament

Authorities from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), headed by Minister Azucena Arbeleche, delivered the Accountability Bill this Thursday at 8:30 p.m. to the presidency of the General Assembly, after a meeting with legislators from the coalition.

The one who received the project this time was Senator Graciela Bianchi, in office as vice-president, since Beatriz Argimón assumed, this morning, the presidency of the Republic due to Luis Lacalle Pou’s trip to Colombia.

The presentation of the document with the budget for the year 2023, took place during the last day of the constitutional term for the delivery of the project.

Before the delivery of the text, at 6:35 p.m. the Secretary of Economy and Finance arrived at room 15 of the annex building, where there was a meeting between the Secretary of State together with the economic team with the legislators of the coalition.

Arbeleche presented the Rendering of Accounts to the members of the Budget and Treasury Commissions of the two chambers during the meeting.

The legislators were waiting for the minister in the room of the Annex Building to the Parliament. Bianchi was present as Acting Vice President, although she is not a member of the parliamentary groups.

After the meeting, the minister and the economic team crossed to the presidency of the General Assembly, where Bianchi had been since 7:59 p.m.

The boxes with the Rendering of Accounts arrived from the MEF, but also the head of education Robert Silva arrived with the ANEP budget at 8:30 p.m., one minute before the Secretary of State entered the presidency of the General Assembly .

It should be remembered that, last Monday 27 in the afternoon, a Council of Ministers was held, in which the President of the Republic, ministers, undersecretaries and other government authorities were present.

In that meeting, the Executive Power in full analyzed and defined some figures, percentages and details of the Accountability bill, which enters today.

That day, and at a press conference, the Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Azucena Arbeleche, accompanied by Ministers Pablo Mieres, Javier García and Pablo da Silveira respectively, provided explanations but did not delve into data or details of the text and its making.

For next Wednesday the 6th, the entire economic team of the MEF will appear before the Budget Commission of Deputies, to offer more details and information on how the Surrender was discussed and prepared.

Then, the parliamentary procedure will last 45 days, in representatives as the first chamber and will officially begin on Thursday 7, with the presence of the first delegations – at an average of one or two per day.

After August 15, the document must enter the Senate, which will have another 45 days to process it.

After that, it will be decided if the Senate sends the bill again to the Deputies to make corrections or modifications, or if it votes on it and gives it the corresponding approval.
