The government decided not to increase fuel prices in July, despite a recommendation from URSEA

Super gasoline has exceeded the barrier of $80 pesos: it will cost $80.88 a liter and diesel $64.99

The Executive Branch decided at the last minute this Thursday that there will be no fuel increase in July, despite the fact that “The gap between the local rates to the public and the reference determined by the Import Parity Prices (PPI) widened during the last month”, as explained by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining in a statement.

“The accumulated variation revealed by the URSEA indicated a rise of $8.34 in Super 95 gasoline and $11 in 50S diesel so that domestic prices aligned with the international reference,” details the Ministry.

Against URSEA recommendation

The decision goes against what is recommended by the Regulatory Unit for Energy and Water Services (URSEA) which, after making its most recent analysis on the indicated PPI, recommended that fuel prices be increased from July 1.

URSEA recommends in its technical report to increase Super 95 gasoline by 4.39% (that is, 3.55 pesos per liter), currently it costs 80.88 pesos. Premium 97 gasoline should experience an increase of 4.67% (3.86 pesos per liter), currently the liter is at 82.85 pesos.

While in the case of diesel 50 S, the increase in its value should be 5.03% (3.26 pesos per liter), when it costs 64.99 pesos.

As for the rise in diesel 10 S, the rise should be 5.02% (3.78 pesos), when today it is at 75.3 pesos.

URSEA recommends an increase of 4.39% in super naphtha and 5.03% in the case of diesel
