Xiomara Castro honors Ortega for his "support for democracy in Honduras"

The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, presented an award to her Nicaraguan counterpart, Daniel Ortega, for his “support for democracy and the resistance of the Honduran people against the 2009 coup d’état,” which ended with the violent expulsion of the power of her husband, Manuel “Mel” Zelaya.

The delivery of the distinction, received by the Nicaraguan ambassador in Honduras, Sidhartha Marín, occurs when Ortega is questioned by the international community for his human rights abuses against the citizens of his country and for re-electing himself last year without democratic guarantees to prolong his family dictatorship, installed in power since 2007.

Castro personally handed the diploma to Marín at an official ceremony held at the Presidential Palace on June 28, where representatives of Zelaya’s allies at the time gathered, all linked to the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (Alba), then led by the then Venezuelan ruler, Hugo Chávez Frías.

Ortega’s propaganda machinery echoed this Thursday, June 30, the Honduran tribute, when criticism of Castro for his silence after the recent nationalizations, handed over by the Nicaraguan regime to two former ministers of his predecessor Juan Orlando Hernández, has not yet subsided. , which occurred without complying with Nicaraguan legal regulations.

The network of Sandinista communicators published the photographs of Castro, those of the political leaders who participated in the event, including Zelaya and Rafael Correa, former president of Ecuador, and a detail where the diploma with Ortega’s name can be clearly read.

“It is our historical responsibility to pay tribute to the brave former presidents of the sister republics of Latin America and the Caribbean, and to their close collaborators. They accompanied us in those fateful moments, “said Castro, during his intervention, according to the video transmitted by Telesur.

In addition to Ortega, Castro sent a similar diploma to Venezuelan ruler Nicolás Maduro, Chávez’s successor, which was received by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza.

delivery of nationalities

Delivery of express nationalities to Ebal Diaz and Ricardo Cardonaformer secretary of the Presidency and former private secretary in the previous government, along with his family, provoked criticism of the Nicaraguan dictatorship, after it was pointed out that they had turned the Central American country into a refuge for the corrupt.

Díaz and Cardona are singled out for acts of corruption in their country. The delivery of citizenship shields them from any persecution because the Constitution prohibits the extradition of nationals.

The Directorate of Immigration and Immigration of Nicaragua, the institution that made the decision to nationalize the former ministers, is questioned for its docile behavior with political figures allied with the regime, regardless of whether there is an ideological affinity.

The best-known cases were those of former presidents Mauricio Funes and Salvador Sánchez Cerén, from El Salvador with the same ideological tendency as Ortega. They were too protected by the regime.

Unlike these favorable cases with foreigners, Migration is hostile to opponents and citizens in general, whose passports have been seizedwhile others are exiled and suffer harassment for opposing Ortega, as revealed by testimonies from an investigation carried out last May CONFIDENTIAL.
