Two 4-year-old Venezuelan twin brothers and their uncle died in Peru as a result of a fire in their home, located on October 12th Street in the Nueva Esperanza human settlement in Lima.
The uncle of the little ones was identified as Yosseth Starwin Leal Santiago, 28, also Venezuelan, and the minors as Dilan and Mathias Canchica.
The incident occurs in the morning hours of June 23 while the mother of the twins worked selling breakfast and the father was doing mototaxi service.
Noticing the smoke, the neighbors contacted the uncle of the little ones, who went up to the third floor of the house to try to rescue the minors; however, he also perished in the flames, reports the newspaper La República de Peru.
Firefighters and ambulance units arrived at the scene to control the fire and help the victims.
The staff could only remove the lifeless body of the leal, while the children were transferred to the emergency room. Hospital Guillermo Kaelin de la Fuentewhere the medical personnel certified the deaths.
Some neighbors were shocked because, they assured, the family had always tried to get ahead since their arrival at the Peru.
“He was a very kind person, very respectful, well honored, a good gentleman, I will always remember him and I will have him in my heart. He was a very good boy. I’ve known him for a year and a half or so. He has a little son, he always worked and sent his money. They are very humble people. I ask the people who can help to bury him, because he is from Venezuela, ”said one of the residents.
The Venezuelan family affected by this tragedy is from San Cristóbal, Táchira state, and they have been living in Peruas reported in the media.
