Zaira Arias Berrocal and Noel Jaimes Tarazona filed a criminal complaint against the candidate for mayor of Lima for Free PeruYuri Castro Romero, and the legal representative of the party, José Garro Díaz for alleged forgery of signatures.
Arias and Jaimes accuse members of their party of having used their signatures and personal data without their consent to register them as candidates for aldermen on Castro Romero’s list to run for mayor of Lima in the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections.
In a statement dated June 22, Arias Berrocal, who is Secretary of Social Affairs of Peru Libre in Lima, asserted that there are “unscrupulous people“within the organization they would only be looking for”satisfy petty interests”, for which he made a call to stop this type of authoritarian practices.
For his part, Jaimes Tarazona, who is the Regional Secretary of Youth in Lima, denounced the use of his personal data and directly accused Yuri Castro and José Garro of being responsible.
They declare inadmissible list of Free Peru
As a result of the complaints made by both members of the ruling party, the Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Lima Centro declared inadmissible the registration of the lists of candidates that this organization presented for mayor of Lima.
Through a resolution, the electoral body determined to declare inadmissible “the request for registration of the list of candidates for the Provincial Municipality of Lima, presented by Mr. José Bernardo Garro Díaz, legal representative of the political organization Partido Politico Nacional Perú Libre”.
