The director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Enrique Lau, assured that, by October 2022, the two new buildings of the Regional Hospital of Chepo will be delivered.
“We have reached an agreement with the contracting company and they have promised us that by the middle of next year we should be receiving the infrastructure and in October it should be fully ready to put it into operation,” he reported.
The engineer Jordi Miragall, manager of the construction company ELECNOR, said that the project consists of two new buildings, one for External Consultation and the other for Emergency Service, which are 90% complete, so it is planned to deliver the building of Urgency in mid-August 2022 and for October of the same year the External Consultation building.
Lau explained that the Chepo Regional Hospital not only serves the population of East Panama, but also the population from the border with Colombia, since there are no other alternatives, up to Panama City, that can provide surgical care, management of intensive care and specialized studies, among others.
