The president of the National Federation of Dominican Transportation (Fenatrado), Ricardo de los Santos, announced to the country that the increase in cargo transportation rates announced last Friday will be without effect.
After a meeting of several hours with the Minister of Industries, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM), Victor Bisonó; the secretary general of the Mayor’s Office of the National District, Hugo Beras and other members of Fenatrado, the readjustment in the freight transport rate announced last Friday remains without effect.
De los Santos specified that the decision is due to the fact that they have begun a process of dialogue with the government authorities.
He said that everything will continue the same, so they will continue to travel along the Circunvalación de Santo Domingo avenue as they have been doing until now.
“Since we arrived at the MICM we have worked within the framework of an open-door policy, seeking solutions through dialogue, to the challenges that arise in the different sectors, these have been the instructions of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader” Bisonó emphasized.
Last Friday, the president of Fenatrado, Ricardo de los Santos, had announced to the country a readjustment in the freight transport rate, which would take effect as of Monday.
The increase was intended to “offset” the increases that would be generated by the toll collection for the use of the Santo Domingo Beltway.
Recently, the Mayor’s Office of the National District issued a resolution by which it prohibits the circulation of trucks through the interior of the capital, a measure that seeks to “decongest” the traffic of Greater Santo Domingo. As part of the measures, cargo vehicles must travel through the Santo Domingo Beltway.
