The Senate approved today (28) a bill that extends the implementation of the National Program for Access to Technical Education and Employment (Pronatec) to public entities for technical assistance and rural extension. The bill goes to presidential sanction.
For the author of the project, then deputy Marinha Raupp (MDB-RO) – the project was conceived in 2015 -, the success of Pronatec in some regions, especially in the North and Northeast, could be compromised by the lack of capillarity of the institutions of professional education, public and private, including the entities of the S System. With that came the suggestion that technical assistance and rural extension providers be authorized to participate in the initiative, offering professional training courses.
Currently, Pronatec can be carried out by federal institutions of professional and technological education and also by non-profit private entities. The latter, however, need to be duly qualified, through the execution of an agreement or contract, and observing the minimum quality criteria so that these private entities can receive financial resources from Pronatec.
Pronatec was created in 2011 by the federal government with the aim of expanding the offer of professional and technological education courses. Among the objectives of Pronatec are the expansion of the offer of distance courses; the expansion of free access to professional and technological education courses in public and private institutions; the expansion of opportunities for training workers in conjunction with policies for the generation of work, employment and income.
