From the current political situation, 12 political groups such as the Authentic Radical Liberal Party, the Febrerista Revolutionary Party, the Solidarity Country Party and the Christian Democratic Party came together to present a list of candidates for deputies for Asunción in order to face the internal on December 18, 2022, analyzed Johanna Ortega, one of the members of the payroll, in an interview with 730 AM.
“We put above all a lot of maturity and the coincidences above the differences. Agreements were reached that at the time with the candidates of the Liberal Party during the municipal elections were not achieved. We understood that it is time to give the electorate of Asunción a majority option of unity with the opposition and this is the list of unity in Asunción”, he maintained.
Along the same lines, Ortega added that this list made up of seven candidates from different parties is the one that concentrates the largest number of opposition sectors, understanding that the capital was the place where the 2018 elections were lost.
“This is heavy territory for the opposition, so we decided to join forces,” he stressed.
SEATS
So far, the list of candidates for deputation for Asunción is made up of an alliance made between 12 political parties, of which six presented candidacies.
The order of seats on this list is made up of the Liberal Party (1 and 6),
Solidarity Country (2), Febrerista Revolutionary Party (3), Citizen Participation (4), Progressive Democratic Party (5) and Christian Democratic Party (7).
The names of the candidates who will make up these positions to face each other in the next party elections will be revealed over the months, although Johanna Ortega has already confirmed some names.
“Enciso and Agustín Saguier will go for the PLRA and other candidates could emerge within the liberal party that will be defined on December 18. Meyer for Citizen Participation, which has seat number 4. In place number 3 is the Partido Revolucionario Febrerista, which will go to Guillermo Ferreiro”, he said.
PREFERENTIAL VOTE
The candidate for Solidarity Country highlighted that with the preferential vote each candidate will have the opportunity to present their proposals and campaign individually to win the internal ones.
“Finally the voter will have the opportunity to vote preferably for the candidate of their choice,” he emphasized.
However, Ortega stressed that the unity of this list is essential to face the internal elections in December.
“I think that the message of unity is something that the Asuncion electorate expected and all the conversations revolved around that, because we all understood that this was the path for Asunción,” he concluded.
