The Colorado ruling party (“Republican Force”), presented its list of 45 senators for the next elections. At first glance, around 14 have corruption complaints in their records.
Rocío Duarte, a political scientist, said that in both lists of the ANR, they bet on people with the capacity to mobilize. In other words, the first criterion for ordering people on the lists is according to their ability to mobilize.
“Then we see in the first places people with a long party history. But those who are also identified with broad bases of people. You see this in both cases,” he stated.
He argued that this capacity they have is also based on the economic resources they possess.
“Resources and links that these people have with their localities. From which they came out many times, ”she commented.
He said that the current legislative period has not made substantial progress in public policies, but the years of the pandemic cannot be ignored.
“Legislative management was limited by this problem. On the other hand, the new figures that are presented could provide a legislative shield in the event that the presidency of the Republic remains in the hands of the ANR. So, regardless of their management capacity, they are figures that will mobilize their management if they are figures that are going to mobilize their bases to protect the decisions that are made from the presidency in the event that power remains in the hands of the ANR, regardless of the quality of the programs”, he concluded.
