After declaring a state of emergency on national, regional and local or rural highways for 30 days, the regional prefect of Moquegua, Guillermo Edgar Rea Tito, indicated that in the Moquegua region there is no need to summon the Armed Forces of Peru (FF. AA.).

The political authority maintained that the carriers, who complied with the stoppage this Monday, June 27, against the rise in fuel, are operating normally and there are no incidents in the city of Moquegua and in neighboring regions.

“It is not worth summoning the Army, but if there were extreme cases, the Army could be summoned, but for now it is not feasible or necessary,” Rea Tito said.

He indicated that for the duration of the emergency, it will continue in coordination with the Police and the Ministry of the Interior. Together with the civic committees, he will verify the traffic situation in the region in order to comply with the supreme decree which prohibits road blockades.
