The Commission for Agricultural Imports, which heads the Department of agriculture issued a resolution to implement the Law 6-22 that has zero rate to the importation of the 67 products that are part of the family basket.
The Resolution No. 03/2022 provides that those interested in importing agricultural products must apply through the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE).
The regulations specify that for products, such as chicken meat, powdered milk, fresh garlic and beansindicative quotas have been determined for the volumes to be imported under said law.
A note states that import licenses will have a term that will not exceed ninety calendar days and that those interested in requesting the authorization of zero rate for the aforementioned products, they must submit their request in writing to the Commission for Agricultural Imports, through the Department of Agricultural and Livestock Promotion, Import Permits of the Department of agricultureand have prior approval to make the request in VUCE.
The approvals of the requests will be carried out without prejudice to the sanitary requirements demanded by the competent authorities.
The products
In April 2022, the Executive power enacted the law to temporarily remove import taxes on 67 tariff subheadings of basic products for feeding the population. The initiative was sent by President Luis Abinader.
The list of products includes beef carcasses or half carcasses, fresh or chilled, in cuts or chunks, boneless or boneless and frozen.
Also, pork; in carcasses or half carcasses, fresh or chilled, legs, shoulders and their pieces without bone and other frozen parts.
Chicken meat without cutting up, fresh, chilled or frozen. Short and long thighs (legs) of chicken, whether or not joined, fresh or chilled; minced or ground chicken meat, breast, thigh, wings and other frozen pieces.
