Crew members of the Emtrasur flight assured during an interview that the relationship between Venezuelans and Iranians “has been limited to instruction”, but that they accompany each other in the hotel where they are being held
The general manager of the Venezuelan airline Emtrasur, a subsidiary of conviasa, Víctor Pérez Gómez, assured this Monday that the crew of the plane detained in Argentina and that is under investigation in that country “had no hidden intentions or anything dark.”
“We didn’t come here with any hidden agenda or anything dark. We show (to the authorities) all the evidence of our work. The aircraft was checked and they found nothing that caught their attention,” Pérez Gómez said in dialogue with Radio con Vos, according to AP.
The aircraft of the state-owned company Emtrasur is still parked at the Ezeiza International Airport, despite the fact that three weeks have passed, and all are being investigated, including its pilot, the Iranian Gholamreza Ghasemi, by an Argentine prosecutor who is seeking to determine if they flew to Argentina for commercial purposes or for its alleged connection to terrorism instigated by Iran.
The Boeing 747 model plane, which was transporting auto parts for local companies, is in an airport hangar located on the outskirts of the Argentine capital after landing on June 6.
Before being transferred to Venezuela, the aircraft belonged to Mahan Air, an airline sanctioned by the United States for transporting weapons, personnel, equipment and resources of said terrorist groups.
While the crew -14 Venezuelans and 5 Iranians- are free in a nearby hotel, but their belongings and identification documents were withheld by order of the federal justice.

The crew speak
After several weeks detained in Argentina, for the first time members of the Emtrasur flight crew offered statements.
During an interview with the Chavista communicator Orlenys Ortiz through YouTube, the group’s spokesman was the soldier Mario Arraga, who was in the company of three other crew members, including the only woman in the group, Victoria Vanessa Valdiviezo Marval.
Arraga explained that the relationship between the Venezuelans and the Iranians has been limited to instruction, but that they accompany each other in the hotel where they are being held.
“They have been accompanying us throughout this journey, very calm, always ready for legal procedures and we are always attentive to their well-being here at the hotel,” he said.
He said that during the 20 days they have been held in Argentina, they have kept in touch with their relatives.
“We have sent them our calm, our tranquility. We, each one of us, in one way or another, give each other a helping hand every day, when we see one down, the other picks it up, and we are continually trying to maintain a calm environment that provides us with the peace and tranquility we need to get through this process,” he explained.
Finally, he assured that they are “confident and hopeful” that they will soon be able to return to Venezuela.
“We hope to comply with the legal lapses, that each of the facts in each of the investigative processes to which we have been exposed are clarified, but confident that we have nothing to hide and that everything they find will be a reflection of what we are, workers who are part of a flagship company and spearhead of cargo in the region,” he said.
