Minister says that Paraguay will respond to Iran through the appropriate channels

Asuncion, June 27 (EFE)

The Government of Paraguay said this Monday that it will respond “through the corresponding channels” to a note sent by Iran, in which it complained about statements by officials of this country about the Iranian crew of a plane held in Argentina.

“It is a note that came through your Embassy and, therefore, it is our Foreign Ministry that, as appropriate, will also answer through the corresponding channels,” declared the Paraguayan Minister of the Interior, Federico González, to Monumental radio. .

This is how a “verbal note” was referred to, dated June 23, that the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Montevideo sent to its Paraguayan counterpart in Uruguay and was broadcast on Sunday by local media.

In the diplomatic communication, Iran considered the statements of some Paraguayan officials “marked by the anti-Rani literature and approach of the US authorities and the Zionist regime.”

Tehran, which refers specifically to González, and to the Paraguayan Minister of Intelligence, Esteban Aquino, pointed out that they raised “vain and unfounded accusations against the Iranian crew.”

In addition, he complained that they have not been consistent “with the history of friendly relations” between the two countries.

Asked about it, Gonzalez ruled out that the Iranian note could be considered a “threat” by that government to the Paraguayan.

“We don’t take it that way, we don’t feel intimidated,” said the official, who defended that “what had to be done was done.”

This Monday, the leadership of the Senate and the leaders of the benches met with delegations from the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (Dinac), Migrations, the National Administration of Navigation and Ports (ANNP) and Customs to analyze the arrival last May at the country of the aircraft that now remains in Argentina.

At the end of the meeting, the Director of Migration, María de los Ángeles Arriola, confirmed to journalists that at the time the crew of the Venezuelan-Iranian plane entered, no alert was activated by Interpol.

“If an alert is triggered, the protocol speaks of a secondary review, which did not occur because in this case, in none of the 18, was an alert triggered,” explained the official, regarding the migration process of the 11 Venezuelans and 7 Iranian crew. EFE
