President Abinader announces remodeling of the facilities of the PN Special Operations Center

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader made a supervision visit to the Special Operations Center of the National Police, in the Manoguayabo sector, on Monday, where he announced that they will be remodeled and placed in decent facilities.

The president explained that the improvements in the facilities will try to do them as quickly and efficiently as possible, within the conditions offered by the processes and the current circumstances.

“You can’t have any people here, we realized in the unworthy conditions in which our men and women who defend us from crime, live, I repeat, in unworthy conditions,” he emphasized.

As part of the tour, the president visited the dining room, kitchen, pool area, bedrooms, riot police pavilion, dental and medical offices, as well as the women’s pavilion.

He told the members of the Special Operations Center and the Anti-riot Unit that the Government is proud of the work carried out by the members of the National Police.

Abinader also expressed that the vast majority of the Dominican people appreciate and support the work carried out by members of the Police, indicating that when the mixed commissions enter the neighborhoods, the citizens applaud them because they want to have them nearby protecting them.

He argued that it is a duty of the Government to provide better conditions so that the agents feel motivated, recognizing that despite the situation they carry out their work out of love and responsibility towards their country.

“At least in the basic conditions of dignity so that they feel more motivated to defend their people and to gradually eliminate crime and in special cases like yours that are of much greater risk, you act as you have acted efficiently, saving lives and above all taking care of the population with courage and that makes us very proud of all of you”, he pointed out.

President Abinader thanked the members of the Police for their hard dedication and dedication to the service of the country.

“Thank you for your work, thank you for your effort, thank you for your dedication, and it remains our responsibility to place these facilities and also their living conditions in the best possible way in the most difficult circumstances,” Abinader said.

Before starting the tour, the president was presented with a review of the history of the Special Operations department dating back to 1966. It currently has 819 active members; of which 513 are riot police.

Also participating in the tour were the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vázquez; the Commissioner for Police Reform, José Pepe Vila Del Castillo; the Director of the National Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then and the Deputy Director General, Brigadier General Julio Betances Hernández.

Also, the inspector general of the National Police, Brigadier General Pedro Cordero Ubri; the central director of Human Resources, Brigadier General Máximo Ramírez De Oleo; the Central Director of Investigation, Brigadier General Paul Cordero Montes De Oca and the Administrative and Financial Director, Brigadier General (r) Leonardo F. García Álvarez.

Likewise, the director of Police Operations, Colonel Fausto Tomás Aquino and the commander of the engineering department, Lieutenant Colonel Cleotilde Maribel Soler Peña.

During the visit, the head of state received the corresponding military honors, and witnessed a demonstration of the work of the tactical units or SWAT team.
