Luis Augusto Romero asks to protect spaces for dialogue and to open a position for the "emerging"

Romero stressed that the opposition has to become something more than an entity that counterbalances the Executive, but rather a real alternative. He again asked that efforts for the country take precedence instead of attending to personal needs

The deputy of the National Assembly elected in December 2020 and general secretary of the Progressive Advance party, Luis Augusto Romero, asserted that the entire Venezuelan opposition must protect and preserve any space for dialogue that opens up in order to find a way out of the crisis. through which the country passes.

Romero highlighted in an interview for Globovisión that this must be preserved in order to respond to an agenda of needs that citizens have such as the issue of salary, dollarized inflation, among other things that “it is up to the political class to assume.”

He warned that there is a “significant and dangerous gap” between the population and politicians due to the disconnection of both groups and that is why the Progressive Advance has carried out a cycle of “consultations, dialogues and debates” with various sectors. of the country and held meetings with several national personalities to specify and locate the proposals that the citizen needs to hear.

He indicated that the issue of salary adjustment is a “moral debt” on the part of the Executive, since many public administration workers receive low salaries that daily “are devoured by inflation in dollars.”

In this sense, he urged the Venezuelan opposition to “stop being just an opposition but to become a real alternative government” and demonstrate to the population that there is another alternative of a country with better leadership in which corruption is considerably minimized. .

Luis Augusto Romero urged politicians to come to an agreement ahead of the 2024 presidential elections, for which he stated that it is “pertinent” to start making the pertinent consultations in order to be able to unify candidacies that allow Venezuelans to meet again.

He again asked that efforts for the country take precedence instead of attending to personal needs, indicating that “we cannot share the quotas” because “people want there to be understanding and responsibilities” through leadership.

He stressed that in Venezuela an “emerging and hopeful leadership” was evidenced since November 2021 in the regional elections where mayorships were increased from six to 124 in favor of the opposition, for which he told those who have held the reins of the opposition that errors are recognized and spaces are opened for these leaderships. “We cannot enthrone ourselves,” Romero said.
