The national directive of the Artiguista Side met this Sunday in Paysandú and warned citizens about the “growing offensive” that, in their opinion, the current government of Luis Lacalle Pou is exercising against public companies.
Among them, the sector mentions OSE, UTE and Antel, the latter as one of the state companies that, they understand, will be affected by the recent decree that enabled cables to provide internet services.
“It is the attempt to dismantle these companies, the sophisticated (unconventional) privatization of sectors of their activity and the deterioration of their ability to act to solve people’s problems and affecting the quality of services,” warns the group.
In response to these actions, they intend to make a call to the Antel authorities or call an interpellation to deal with the issue. The intention will be transferred to the Broad Front so that the matter takes parliamentary status.
“Given the seriousness of the decisions on Antel, the Vertiente will promote that it take a parliamentary state and reach the highest political levels for its treatment and summon the responsible authorities to give explanations in light of a strategic project of the telecommunications company unknown,” says the statement this Sunday.
The Frente Amplio sector also questioned the actions of the government and pro-government legislators that “tend to generate a climate of fear, intimidation and limitation of freedom of expression and constitutional guarantees.” As an example, he pointed to the intervention carried out by the Ministry of Education and Culture at the Villa Española club.
In the prelude to the Rendering of Accounts, the Artiguista Side framed economic and social issues as two priority issues for the instance. “Incremental resources need to be allocated to assist those sectors that are most neglected,” they maintain.
