Tegucigalpa, Honduras | AFP | The United States, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama qualified this Saturday for the quarterfinals of the Concacaf World Cup, qualifying for the Indonesia-2023 U-20 Soccer World Cup and the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.
The United States thrashed Nicaragua 5-0, Costa Rica beat Trinidad and Tobago 4-1, Honduras also beat Curaçao 4-1 and Panama defeated Cuba 1-0.
In the quarterfinals, the United States will face Costa Rica and Honduras will face Panama.
On Sunday, the passes to the quarterfinals Mexico-Puerto Rico, Guatemala-Canada, El Salvador-Dominican Republic and Haiti-Jamaica will be defined.
The quarterfinals will be played Tuesday and Wednesday. The semifinals will be on July 1 and the final on July 3.
The semifinalists will participate in the Indonesian U-20 World Cup-2023 and the finalists in the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.
Mexico and the United States are the big favorites for the first two places.
The United States is the top scorer in the tournament with 20 goals for and only two against.
The United States is a two-time champion of that category in Concacaf by winning the 2017 and 2018 tournaments.
