The president of United States, Joe Bidenarrived this Saturday night at Munich airport (southern Germany) to participate in the G7 summit which is celebrated from this Sunday in the castle of Elmau, where it moves after its landing.
The US president arrived at the international airport in the capital of Bavaria to travel from there to the place that will host the summit, which is also attended by the leaders of Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, France and Germany, the host country.
The castle and luxury hotel of Elmau receives this Sunday for the second time a G7 summit with the leaders of the great powers focused on the Ukraine of Volodímir Zelenski after the Russian occupation since February 24.
The first day will be marked by the bilateral meeting between Biden and the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, after the usual family photos and plenary sessions. Zelensky will be reserved for a leading role on Monday, with a virtual intervention.
“Elmau is at a summit. We will not move mountains, but we will make decisions,” Scholz said this Saturday in a video message to his fellow citizens.
The White House has explained that at the G7 the president will seek to coordinate closely with allies on priorities such as “further isolating Russia from the global economy, damaging Russia’s defense supply chain, and ending sanctions evasion.” Moscow.
Another US priority at the G7 will be launching “a global infrastructure collaboration” to support low- and middle-income countries; an initiative that the group’s leaders agreed to explore at their summit last year in the UK.
After his participation in the G7, the US president will travel to Madrid, where he will arrive on Tuesday, the 28th, to participate in the NATO summit.
