Those young people born between 1981 and 1996 –and who are between 25 and 40 years old– have a place where their particularities will be addressed. EY obtained fourth place in the ranking of best companies to work for millennials, according to the latest survey carried out by Great Place To Work Uruguay.
For EY it turned out to be even more gratifying considering that it was the first time they participated in this program. “It is a great satisfaction for all the executives of the firm to obtain such a good position. On the other hand, we have been working hard for a long time on the well-being of our people and in particular on trying to make EY an attractive job option for new generations ”, indicated Alejandro Barboni, Country Managing Partner of EY Uruguay.
For this accountant, the reasons why they were recognized in this way are found “in a cluster of actions” of different kinds that position his company as one of the most pleasant places to work.
“On the one hand, we offer continuous training at all levels, from professional training courses for the different lines of services through soft skills courses, to English courses of different levels, beyond the continuous learning that occurs during the day. This is accompanied by possibilities for professional development and growth in the short, medium and long term, either in the country or within the EY network in other countries ”, he stated.

Regarding the benefits, specifically, Barboni said that they are focused on achieving the well-being of the team and collaborating with the flexibility policy that the firm applies with its employees, such as the schedule -depending on the time of year-, the work in format hybrid (home office and face-to-face), free on birthday and other free days such as December 24 and 31; in turn, financial support for postgraduate and master’s degrees, study days, mindfulness classes and online physical training.
Also, platforms for language classes and other technical training; Specific bonuses for staff at private universities, sports clubs and English institutes. Added to this is the constant technical training that “is the support for our teams to carry out a work of excellence in the clients.”
Along these lines, EY seeks to ensure the possibilities of professional development and career in the company. “Personal growth and career development go hand in hand, each one regulates the speed with which they want to grow personally, there are countless individual web courses for this beyond the training in virtual or face-to-face groups”, he asserted. Barboni.
The Country Managing Partner of EY Uruguay added that in the last year and a half, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the availability of virtual group courses grew exponentially compared to 2019. “At the same time, it allowed us to participate in training virtual games from other more developed markets, dictated by top-level professionals, which was very good for our people, ”he said.
“Teleworking also enhanced the possibilities for our professionals to assume new roles and challenges, several of the executives are participating in different professional activities that occur at the regional level, from being in charge of training to participating in quality reviews in more markets. developed ”, he stressed. “For this reason, more and more doors are opening for the personal development of each one, which is very attractive. Finally, the growth of EY at the local level allows the growth of our professionals.”
Having obtained an award such as the Best Place to Work award, had to do –in the case of this company– with a specific work culture, in the purpose of “building a better business world”, in the words of Barboni. “The knowledge and quality services we provide help build trust in capital markets and economies around the world, communities.”
Through the four lines of EY services, audit, tax, consulting, and strategy and transactions, plus the “solid knowledge of the market”, they encourage clients to “capitalize on new opportunities, and evaluate and manage risk to achieve a responsible growth ”.
“A better business world is one in which economic growth is sustainable and inclusive. We continually work to improve the quality of all our services, investing in our people and in innovation ”, concluded Barboni.
