An Iranian who was carrying a false Venezuelan passport is arrested in Argentina

The man who said his name was Asan Azad, in addition to the false passport, also had identity documents of two Argentine citizens and had previously been interrogated in La Rioja for irregularities in his papers.

An Iranian citizen who was carrying false documents was arrested in the municipality of Entre Ríos, when officials from the National Migration Directorate of Argentina detected him getting off a bus from the town of Gualeguaychú to Concepción del Uruguay.

According to a newspaper report The nation, the man – who only speaks Farsi – said his name was Asan Azad. Immigration officials detained him because a porter asked for his documentation and he did not have it. “He presented a DNI from an Argentine and a driver’s license from another Argentine,” a source told the newspaper.

Deputy Gerardo Milman published a tweet in which he assured that Azad was carrying a false Venezuelan passport, in addition to the Argentine documents.

The man was detained and his case will be brought before the Federal Court of Entre Ríos, and although he was initially linked to the because of the Venezuelan-Iranian plane, the same deputy corrected the information he had said in his tweet and other versions from judicial sources dismissed the relationship of both legal cases and affirmed that it is a different incident.

It is not the first time that this citizen has been questioned by the immigration authorities and the Argentine police. Months ago, he was detained by the police in the province of La Rioja and at that time he said that he was of Palestinian origin. The National Directorate of Migration had already requested information about Asan Azad from the Iranian Embassy but received no response. In the last interrogation after saying that he was Iranian, he changed his version and said that he was Iraqi, but barely speaks a few words of English.
