Police Patrol wore colors of the LGBT+ flag in Pride March

Within the framework of the XXII Pride March, convened in Santiago by the Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation (Movilh) and Fundación Iguales, a police patrol wore the colors of the LGBT+ flag.

Police shared images of the vehicle on their Twitter account. “Our Directorate for Human Rights and Family Protection protects the #MarchaOrgullo2022 so that its attendees can demonstrate calmly and safely,” the institution said.

The march passed through the Alameda between Plaza Baquedano and Los Héroes.

According to its organizers, the mobilization was carried out due to the repeal of article 365 of the Penal Code. The article sets the age of sexual consent for male same-sex couples at 18 years, in circumstances that for heterosexuals at 14 years.

“It is an open discrimination that the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child itself has asked Chile to repeal,” Movilh and Iguales pointed out in the event post on Facebook.

The demonstration also sought to call for the reform of the Anti-Discrimination Law and “the cessation of all violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,” they added.
