After two years of pandemic, the Pride March returns

On the eve of the 44th LGBT+ Pride March, organizers assured that this first massive demonstration, after two years of the pandemic, will be plural, non-partisan and non-profitIt will also be made up of activists and members of civil society. Among the confirmed participants to give the starting signal is Martha Delgado, Undersecretary for Human Rights and Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), Geraldina González de la Vega, President of the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination of the City of Mexico (Copred) and deputies Salma Luévano, president of the Diversity Commission, and Marisol García, secretary of the Human Rights Commission, as well as Natalia Lane, trans activist and member of the InclúyeT Committee, one of the organizers of the mobilization.

Claudia Sheinbaum, head of the Government of Mexico City, will also be present, to whom a petition will be delivered. She is not expected to march with the contingents. Also at the march will be a group of diverse women, government workers from Mexico City.

The opening ceremony will be at the Angel of Independence and the mobilization will advance to the capital’s Zócalo, where there will be a cultural and artistic event.

In this version, the march will be led by contingents of diverse, lesbian, trans, bisexual and intersex women. Emphasis will be placed on gender violence and the eradication of machismo. Before the start, a statement will be read with the main demands and pending for the LGBT + community, said Aurélien Guilabert, activist and member of the InclúyeT Committee.
