Health authorities in Medellin confirmed that 22 people were preventively isolated after maintaining close contact with the 27-year-old who contracted monkeypox on a trip to Barcelona (Spain).
According to the report delivered by the Undersecretary of Public Health, Milena Loperafrom that entity they are carrying out a constant monitoring of this first case imported from Europe.
“After doing the corresponding epidemiological investigations and doing the entire issue of verifying the epidemiological fence, we found 22 possible people who had close contact with the usurer. That is why these people are also monitored daily,” he said.

The man presented symptoms once he arrived in the city of Medellin. When the test was carried out and it came out positive, they began an epidemiological fence to nine nearby people, who now number 22, for having had contact with the positive case.
Although these people do not have related symptoms, the possibly infected will remain in isolation and medical monitoring for 21 days.
