The State Attorney General’s Office (PGE) assured that “it is not empowered to ask repetitive questions” during proceedings of the Public Ministry. This, after it was announced that the owner of said entity, Maria Caruajulca Quispedid not ask any questions in the interrogation of President Pedro Castillo of June 17.
In a statement, the aforementioned institution asserted that “it conducts its actions in strict compliance” within the framework of the law, and specified that its “primary function” is “to represent the State in criminal proceedings in order to request the greatest civil compensation ”.
“The PGE adds that its function is to assist in clarifying the facts in the proceedings carried out by the Public Ministry; nevertheless, is not empowered to ask repetitive questions, since it would give rise to an objection by the Public Ministry and/or the technical defense of the person under investigation in the repetitive question modality,” The Attorney General’s Office said in a statement.

In this sense, the entity rejected the journalistic reports that report an absolute silence of Caruajulca Quispe during the taking of the declaration of President Pedro Castillo.
“The PGE informs that the State Attorney General does not have administrative disciplinary procedures (PAD) in process initiated by the Functional Control Body of the PGE, nor sanctions imposed in the National Registry of Sanctions against Civil Servants and/or the Registry National Association of Lawyers Sanctioned for Professional Malpractice, with which, denies and rejects false claims to the contrary that have been disclosed,” hold.
Finally, the Attorney General’s Office called for “greater attention to the statements, declarations and information that are disseminated in the media, which affect the institutionality of this entity.”
