The “Paraguayan like you” campaign aims to value national products and the extensive value chain that compose it.

National industrialized products will be prominently displayed from June 17 to July 17 in all supermarkets associated with the Paraguayan Chamber of Supermarkets (CAPASU). This initiative is promoted by the 8th. Edition of the “Paraguayan like you” campaign by the Young Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIPJoven).

The Minister of Industry and Commerce (MIC), Luis Alberto Castiglioni highlighted the firm commitment, as public servants, to support all kinds of initiatives that strengthen the idea and the consequent action of the development of national industries, through policies and concrete actions , of the defense of the position as a country in the international field.

“The quality of our products means that not only large companies now have their products on shelves in Europe or the US. We also have the MSMEs that are exporting to Florida, Colorado, or have their products in the Netherlands, and that is achieved with quality and productivity,” he said, highlighting the record reached last year, in the export of industrialized products, worth 1,279 millions of dollars.

Direct and indirect work

The president of the Young UIP, Francisco Martino, highlighted the importance of the installation and operation of industries in the localities of the country, due to the economic contribution and knowledge that it gives to the community. “There are industries installed in the interior, in very remote and remote places, which for a long time were the only source of work in the locality, and today those towns are prosperous. Paraguayan like you, was born as a proposal to be able to highlight the products of the national industry”, he added.

He recalled that the first year of the campaign they found a reality that they did not know, taking into account that many consumers approached the gondolas, and stated that they did not know that this product was Paraguayan. “We demonstrate what the industry has done over time, beginning to produce excellent quality products that compete today in international markets. Years ago, selling in Europe, in North America, was a dream because of the resources we had at that time. This year, the campaign aims to raise awareness among the entire chain of people who work, so that the product reaches the shelves. There are families that work directly and indirectly, and we want consumers to understand why they should focus on national products, not only because they are good and at a good price, but also because they employ many people”, explained the young union leader.

Nicolás Riquelme, director of the UIP Joven, invited consumers to purchase national products, taking into account the quality they offer and the extensive value chain that is concentrated in each of them. “He encouraged people to try the national product, which is good, and behind it there is a value chain of countless hard-working people,” he added.

consumer preference

Enrique Duarte, president of the UIP, pointed out that the Eighth Edition of the Paraguayan Like You campaign is an undertaking that not only requires a lot of investment, but also involves intellectual and relationship work. “By buying a legal product, produced in Paraguay, you are really developing formal employment and, above all, generating wealth, in the country,” he said, highlighting the work that the members of UIPJoven have been developing.

Alberto Sborovsky, president of CAPASU, explained that national products will be highlighted in supermarkets, with the idea that consumers can be made visible and aware. “A national product has the same or higher quality than imported products. That has been seen and proven, because the national industry has gained space in supermarket halls. People are choosing domestic products, instead of an imported product. We are in a post-pandemic recovery process where we must support the national industry. When buying a Paraguayan product, there is a whole virtuous chain of employment behind it, and of consumption that adds value to the Paraguayan economy”, he stressed.
