Great commotion caused the death of a 46-year-old woman, after suffering a heart attack when she saw how an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) dog chased her five-year-old son. The minor had left his house to run an errand at a local store in Bahía Blanca in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when the incident occurred.
According to some local media, the boy was already on his way back to his home when he found the APBT fighting with a stray dog. At that moment, the boy got scared and ran to his house, which was a few meters away.
His mother, identified as Noelia Marín, seeing the situation, tried to help her son, but the shock of the moment was so great that it caused him a heart attack and he died suddenly. Some reports state that this woman had been diagnosed with high blood pressure and was on medication.
“The animal was out of his mind, he wanted to enter the house in any way. Those of us who were inside took out broomsticks to scare him away, but he was very busy. Luckily, it was on the outside, “said Betty, the deceased woman’s mother-in-law, to local media.
“My son-in-law’s grandmother was screaming, in a state of shock; and my sister-in-law, after seeing the dangerous scene, she collapsed, ”she added.
The relatives of the deceased woman have already filed the respective lawsuit with the competent authorities for what happened with the dog. However, the dog’s owner mentioned to a local newspaper that his animal had never taken an aggressive position.
“We are extremely hurt because Noelia was the mother of one of my son’s best friends. Since the event, we have been in contact with his entire family. We can’t believe what happened,” lamented the man identified as David.
Why the behavior of the dog?
Some experts spoke to the Paraguayan newspaper ‘Última Hora’ and stated that great care must be taken with large-breed dogs that have not had contact with children or babies, since these types of pets tend to develop their predatory instinct, which is why recommends instructing dogs to socialize with all kinds of people.
“Predatory aggressiveness generates a positive stimulus in the dog’s brain. Dogs come from the wolf and this aggressiveness was developed to hunt, eat and survive, so the central nervous system tells it that this is fine, “said the veterinary specialist in animal behavior, Sofía Manchini, to the aforementioned medium.
