President: increase in Aid Brazil can overcome the effects of the pandemic

President Jair Bolsonaro said today (24) that the increase in inflation rates has, among its causes, problems arising from social isolation, a measure to combat the pandemic that, according to him, ended up harming the country’s economy.President: increase in Aid Brazil can overcome the effects of the pandemic

According to the president, a measure that can help overcome these negative effects caused by the pandemic on the economy is the increase in the value of Auxílio Brasil, from R$400 to R$600.

The statements were made during the opening ceremony of Residencial Canaã I and II, in João Pessoa (PB).

According to a survey released today by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the Broad National Consumer Price Index – 15 (IPCA-15)which measures the preview of official inflation, is accumulated at 12.04% in the last 12 months.

Hard moments

“I always said, during the pandemic, that the people should continue working, and that the policy of closing everything in Brazil was wrong. We are seeing that the ‘stay at home and the economy we’ll see later’ didn’t work. We are experiencing difficult times in Brazil and in the world, with inflation and price increases that affect everyone. But we can overcome this because, as the press is announcing, Auxílio Brasil will go from R$400 to R$600”, said the president.

He added that, in Paraíba alone, around 1.5 million people receive the benefit, which, according to him, “is different from Bolsa Família, which, in the past, anyone who went to work lost. With Auxílio Brasil, they can work because they won’t lose it”.

Freedom of expression

In his speech, Bolsonaro said that his government defends “an increasingly strong freedom of expression” mainly for people who use social media to express themselves.

“We will never censor the Brazilian media. We want freedom of expression, especially for social media, which gave a voice to good people”, said the president, stating that the internet is a tool that “frees each one of us”.

According to him, it is normal for criticisms to be made of politicians, including by the government itself. “We have criticisms of politicians, this is normal. Nobody is perfect, although we try. But we couldn’t,” he said.

housing

During the event in João Pessoa, 960 homes were delivered to low-income families through the Casa Verde e Amarela Program. According to the government, the two residential units will benefit around 3,800 people.

R$ 81.5 million were invested in these projects, of which R$ 75.2 million from the federal government and R$ 6.3 million in counterparts from the government of Paraíba.
