Banks ponder digital skills for the country’s economic progress

Santo Domingo.- The Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA) pondered the importance of ensuring that the different productive sectors of the country, especially the financial one, take advantage of the facilities of technology to accelerate their digital skills and the achievement of their goals, impacting, for therefore, in the sustained growth of the country.

In that order, the union stated that Dominican banking is in line with the digital transformation that the Dominican government has initiated, within the framework of the 2030 Digital Agenda, in order to promote the economic and social development of the Dominican Republic.

As part of the actions of the banking sector to drive the digital agenda in the financial sector and companies in other branches, the ABA reported that it will bring to the country for the first time, in September of this year, the XXII Latin American Congress of Banking Automation, Technology and Innovation (CLAB) and the XXXVIII Latin American Congress of Foreign Trade (CLACE), in coordination with the Latin American Federation of Banks (FELABAN).

With the development of CLAB, the most important congress of banking automation and innovation in the region, the promotion and exchange of techniques, programs and tools that strengthen the financial system in the face of the digital agenda will be worked on, the union detailed.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that CLACE will focus on the transformation of financial services to promote foreign trade, highlighting the challenges and perspectives of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and how to promote mechanisms that allow greater access to credit, as well as issues current.

The ABA indicated that both congresses will bring together nearly 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries, speakers from multilateral organizations, government authorities and executives from the areas of regulation, supervision, banking, the Swift system, Visa, Mastercard, Fintech companies, among others.

One of the keynote speeches, added the Association of Banks, will be given by Brett King, cataloged as the father of Fintech and awarded for his best-sellers on platforms such as Amazon. The events will also include the exhibition of multiple international suppliers in innovation, technology and international trade, the union detailed.

He also reported that the CLAB and CLACE congresses will be held, consecutively, from September 18 to 24, 2022, at the Hyatt hotel in Cap Cana, La Altagracia province, Dominican Republic.
