Small producers took out their products at the agricultural fair ‘From the Field to the Table’, in Chorrera

Hundreds of families benefited from the sale of rice, pineapples, bananas, goat cheese and ornamental plants, among other products, at the first agricultural fair “From the Field to the Table”, which took place in the Libertador Park, in the district of La Chorrera, in Western Panama, which was attended by the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, accompanied by his work team.

In this place, the small producers took their products from the field to be sold to the citizens, who from early hours came to this place in search of the various products.

The head of the agricultural portfolio said that the purpose of these fairs is to bring fresh food from the producer to the consumer’s table. He added that this initiative has been a success and is the first of many so that producers and consumers are the most benefited with quality products at a good price.

He stressed that these fairs support the producer and encourage him to produce more, contributing to social peace and the nutrition of all Panamanians.

The objective of this fair is to bring products from the basic basket to Panamanian homes so that small producers, on this occasion, from La Chorrera, Capira, Chame and San Carlos can receive a direct economic benefit from their agricultural work.

Silka Bonilla, a pineapple producer from La Chorrera, said that she hopes to continue counting on the support and initiatives like these from the agricultural authorities. She added that we produce for the people to eat and this activity helped us sell.
