The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, sent this Thursday a message of condolences to the people of Afghanistan for those killed and injured in the earthquake that struck the east of the Asian nation on Wednesday.
“With pain we learned of the loss of human lives, injuries and material damage caused by a devastating earthquake in Afghanistan,” the foreign minister wrote on his Twitter account.

Rodríguez conveyed his “heartfelt condolences to the Afghan people, especially to the families and relatives of the victims.”
The earthquake shook the southern and southeastern regions of Afghanistan and is considered the most catastrophic in the last 20 years.
According to the resident coordinator of the United Nations Organization in the Islamic emirate, Ramiz Alakbarov, the tremor caused more than 1,000 deaths and some 1,500 injuries.

The UN estimated that a “minimum” of 15 million dollars is needed to assist the victims of the incident for three months.
