The undersecretary of Livestock, Juan Ignacio Buffa, announced that the Government will reimburse the surplus generated by the Fund for Financing and Sustainable Development of Dairy Activity, for the third time since 2021. This time the amount is about 65 million pesos and will be 850 dairy farmers will be reinstated.

He also pointed out that any measure that improves the situation of dairy farmers is good for the sector chain and increases productivity. In this framework, he expressed that it was decided to modify the milk fund law because there are producers who never received the credit or have already finished paying it, so the excess amount will begin to be returned to them. Payments will be made through bank deposits every three months, he said.

He explained that the first reimbursement was made in December 2021 and benefited 610 producers. While the second, in March 2022 for 711 entrepreneurs.

“The third return comes at an important time for the dairy sector, which went through a strong crisis in the last 6 years and is now recovering, due to competitiveness and price ratios,” said the chief, who indicated that the refunds will remain in force as long as there are benefited producers.

“Anything that improves the situation for dairy farmers is good for the industry chain. There is no chain if there is no milking”, said Buffa.
