Alejandrina Germán affirmed that none of the PLD candidates have shown complaints or distrust in the assembly of the process and that a company was contracted for the design of the electronic voting software and a technical audit will be carried out to clear up any doubts.
The coordinator of the National Organizing Commission of the consultation that the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) will do to choose the candidate, Alejandrina Germán, assured that the entire assembly is going according to plan. Germán revealed that a commission from that party met with President Luis Abinader to ask him to provide the school campuses.
“The Board said that for this process it could not provide us with the schools, we visited the President of the Republic to tell him to see if he could lend us the educational centers, he told us to meet with the Minister of Education, to speak with the Minister of Education, I took the communication to the Minister of Education with the commission, the Minister of Education told us that there is no difficulty, that they are going to lend it to us and that what we have to do is coordinate”, revealed when asked about the progress of the assembly of process.
The leader of the PLD guaranteed that this organization will return the premises in the conditions in which they will receive them and that since it is Sunday, this process will not affect the teaching work. Regarding the people who will have the right to vote in that consultation, Germán said that they will be all those who appear in the national electoral register with the exception of those who appear registered in other parties.
“According to the regulations that we approved, all Dominican citizens registered in the registry of the Central Electoral Board and the registry that the party deposited in the Central Electoral Board will be able to vote, except only those who are included in the registry of another political party; the party already has the registry and crosses it with that of the other parties, now if there are people who, for example, are on the PLD registry, but by mistake they may appear on the registry of another party, in the demarcation in question , the corresponding process will be carried out and voting will be allowed,” he said.
Germán announced that they have not yet defined how many voting centers they will enable for the voting process, but the regulation has already defined that there will be seven delegates at each table who will be chosen in consensus with the pre-candidates. So far the PLD has six candidates for the candidacy for 2024, Margarita Cedeño, Francisco Domínguez Brito, Anel Martínez, Karen Ricardo, Maritza Hernández and Luis de León.
“Whoever wants can continue if they so wish”
Germán clarified that the voting process that the PLD will carry out in October does not violate the law and that it does not force the candidates not to continue in the race until the term of the law expires. “The important thing is that we are acting in accordance with what the law establishes; the level of sympathy is going to be measured, when the results are obtained, each one of them will decide if they are going to continue forward until the legal term, whoever wants to continue aspiring, must respect it”.
