Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) supported by the Military Security of the Multimodal Port Caucedo, intelligence agencies and under the coordination of the Public Ministry, they seized 266 packages presumably cocaine, in an interdiction operation carried out this Saturday at the aforementioned port terminal.
DNCD agents, military personnel and canine units, outlined dozens of containers that were in transit through the country and after conducting a more rigorous inspection, eleven packages containing the 266 packages of the substance were found in one of them.
As established in the cargo manifest, the container was in transit from the United States and its final destination was Belgium.
“To try to circumvent the authorities’ controls, the eleven packages were placed in a glyphosate load,” the press release said.
The Public Ministry and the DNCD have interviewed several people, expanded the investigations and hope as the process progresses to be able to offer more details.
The authorities have continued to redouble operations against national and international drug trafficking, occupying in the last eleven months, more than 23 tons of cocaine, marijuana heroin, crack, among other substances.
The 266 packages They are being sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
