The Association of Entrepreneurs and Merchants of the Great Wholesale Market of Lima (Asemco) warned that the next truckers strike could leave the city short of food,
“We are in an emergency problem in the country. The prices of the products have risen in the market. If this strike is carried out and it is a success, Lima would be short of food”said the secretary of the organization, Carlos Goycochea, in a dialogue with Successful.

The leader explained that the number of products entering the wholesale market has fallen, since farmers have not planted as much as in previous campaigns.
He stressed that the market is not in a position to supply itself before a strike of three, four or five days.
On the other hand, he recalled that during the previous strike, food prices increased by a minimum of 50%, and some even exceeded 100%.
