The organization Nicaragua Freedom Coalition has launched a campaign of fundraising with the purpose of supporting the relatives of political prisoners with the delivery of food packages.
The entity urged citizens to collaborate with this cause, since with the donation they will be helping the families of the hostages of the Daniel Ortega dictatorship with food and clothing. The majority of prisoners of conscience guaranteed sustenance in their homes.
“We ask you to support us with your donation to help them buy clothes and food, and cover their transportation expenses to be able to visit their loved ones in prison and fight for their freedom,” the group said.

“Families, in particular the spouses and children of political prisoners, lack sufficient food and clothing, as well as resources to live with dignity and be able to meet the needs of their families,” he stressed.
In addition, he stressed that the relatives of prisoners of conscience lack money and sometimes cannot visit them and “get in touch with their loved ones” due to the cost of transportation.
According to Mechanism for the Recognition of Political Prisonersin Nicaragua there are 190 opponents imprisoned for political reasons and judged with laws approved months before the presidential elections and branded as repressive by opponents and human rights organizations.
