The US repatriated 138,000 nationals in six months

During the last six months, at least 138 thousand 83 nationals were repatriated, mostly from the United States, and assisted by the National Institute of Migration (INM), the dependency maintained yesterday when presenting a balance on the matter. The figure represents 17,473 more people compared to the same period in 2021.

Meanwhile, Francisco Garduño, commissioner of the INM, reported that 116,000 migrants are waiting in Mexican territory for a response to their request for asylum in the United States, and another 224,000 migrants have a temporary humanitarian visa issued by the immigration authority to transit freely through Mexico. , until your situation is regularized.

During his participation in the Reflections on Contemporary Migration forum, he pointed out that the intention of the vast majority of migrants who have arrived in Mexico in recent years through irregular means is to enter the United States.

Statistics from the National Migration Institute reveal that 13,272 minors were also repatriated, of which 10,550 were unaccompanied, almost four times more than the 2,722 who were accompanied by an adult, while 124,811 they were adults.
