This Thursday, June 23, the 20th Plenary Session of the Congress of Mayors will take place, in which departmental heads will work on various issues, highlighting the support proposal from the Ministry of the Environment for the purchase of equipment that allows improvement in waste management, and the possibility of an extension of the expiration of driver’s licenses.
The plenary session will take place at the agency’s headquarters (located on the 2nd floor of the Montevideo City Hall) from 10 am; beginning with a minute of silence in homage and memory of the former Mayor of Rocha, Artigas Barrios.
Next, the approval of the Minutes of Resolutions of the 19th Plenary Session will be given, to then continue with the report on the Asymmetry Fund.
Next, representatives of the Congress of Mayors will be appointed in various Commissions: 1) UAM, 2) Territorial Planning, 3) INAC, 4) Mides Disability.
Among other issues, the mayors will study the proposal on MIDES University City, quotas by Intendancy for student homes.
Report of the Table in which it will be communicated about: Agreement with the Ministry of Education and Culture for the purpose of obtaining certifications of courses that are offered by the Municipalities, and the formation of a working group between the MGAP, OPP, CI for the purpose of enabling the generation of semi-surging wells for family producers, in order to prevent damage caused by droughts.

With the presence of the Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning Dr. Irene Moreira, the undersecretary Tabaré Hackenbruch, the director of Dinisu Arq. Florencia Arbeleche, the general coordinators of the Neighborhood Improvement Program Arq. Álvaro Martínez and Consuelo Pérez, together with the departmental mayor of Canelones Yamandú Orsi and members of the CIEMSA Company, the document was signed that will allow the start of the works, which have been postponed on several occasions.
The Executive Project of the Infrastructure and Architecture work includes: opening of streets, conditioning of rainwater, public lighting, roads, sanitation, drinking water network, regular water and electricity connections, 21 new homes, 51 baskets of materials for the improvement of bathrooms and 137 connections to the sanitation of those homes that make up the list of beneficiaries and equipment of a public space with: multipurpose court, square with games, benches, tables. The data of the work: 1,614 mt of roads 155 mt Pedestrian circulation – sidewalks 1,622 mt of sanitation – Pumping Well 204 ml of Drinking Water supply 2,550 ml of Lighting lines – 72 Luminarias Espacio Plaza with multipurpose court, bike path, games childish.
The total amount of the work that the Neighborhood Improvement Program will contribute is $132,857,518 with social laws and VAT included.
