The December elections are generating a confrontation of ideas about whether everyone can vote with the national register on the 19th, the date on which there will be elections for the Colorados and within the Coalition. And here the debate, from within the Superior Court of Electoral Justice to blow the Coalition out of steam, is to say that they cannot do that, that they will have to see how this is resolved because there is a legal loophole.
The Colorados affirm that this is impossible and that they are going to seek to challenge the results of those elections. We are already on the way to what is a classic in Paraguayan elections, to look for legal subterfuges that prevent elections from being shrouded in legality.
We find no reason why an open registry for all can be used for elections of this type, and that someone who is affiliated with the Colorado Party and does not find attractive any of the names that are on the electoral list can wield or vote for another opposition candidate in the Concertación.
Finally, the Party is not the owner of the will of the voters, that voter can vote for whoever he pleases, and he does so in many cases when there are national elections; there is no reason why he should be banned from acting in the internal elections next December.
They are looking to muddy the waters when all is too clear.
