The president of the Federation of Copper Workers (FTC), Amador Pantoja, confirmed that on Thursday they will meet with the Government and the National Copper Corporation (Codelco). This, in the midst of the strike of Codelco workers after the board decided to move towards the closure of the Ventanas smelter, located in Quintero, Valparaíso region, due to episodes of contamination in the area.
“We are going to start a negotiation process. We have agreed to meet with Codelco, which is going to be tomorrow at 09:00 in Santiago, where we are going to participate in a meeting as a Federation and we are going to bring one or two members of Ventanas, who are the ones who know the most about what is happening”, Pantoja said in conversation with the media.
