The Superintendence of Health and Occupational Hazards (Sisalryl) reported this Wednesday that the proposal reduction of the Variable Moderator Quota (copays) for hospitalization services, surgeries, caesarean sections, high cost and kidney transplant, seeks to reduce its participation in the financing of health services, impacting on the reduction of out-of-pocket expenses and that in no way presumes to affect the income of doctors, as expressed by the Dominican Medical Association (cmd).
The doctor Jesus Feris Iglesiassuperintendent of Health, argued that, for the beginning of the contributory regime, the affiliates had to pay the difference a maximum limit of 11,270 pesoshowever, since this limit is subject to the current quoted minimum wage, it represents an amount of 32,525 pesos, raising this difference by 288%.
“If we want to have an impact on the reduction of members’ out-of-pocket expenses, we have to focus on the elements that have the most impact,” said Dr. Feris Iglesias, at the time of showing his surprise regarding the statements of the cmd on the opposition presented, because according to what he refers, the College has made inferences about the proposal without knowing it in detail.
“We are sure that, if the Dominican Medical Association and the Specialized Medical Societies they took the time to know the proposal, they would agree with it and would show their support for it, the ARS they will have to assume a greater amount of coverage, the affiliate will pay less and the provider will continue to receive what he receives today under the terms agreed with the ARSsaid the superintendent.
The institution took the opportunity to make a call to the medical class so that, before presenting a position on the matter, they allow the Superintendence to conclude its proposals and present for the consideration of the actors, according to the channels established by the Law No. 87-01.
“The CMD and the Specialized Medical Societies must be calm, since the actions of Sisalril will always be within the framework of balance and prudence, without prejudice to the parties, always placing the affiliates at the center of their actions”, said Feris Iglesias.
